There are a lot of people around the world who suffer from the effects of sinusitis and there are also a wide variety of sinusitis symptoms that people can have - which is what we will look at in a bit more detail now.
Given that people are different, we know that the symptoms of sinusitis that people have will vary from person to person. We also know that some people will have more of these symptoms than others. The severity of the condition that the person has will also have some bearing on the symptoms and the severity of the sinusitis symptoms that they will have. Chronic sinusitis is sometimes more bothersome than it is painful. But this is a very common issue that a lot of people have to contend with at some point in their life. Many people who are not aware of the existence of sinusitis assume that they have a cold when they are experiencing sinusitis symptoms.
Some of the more common symptoms are feeling stuffed up or having a runny nose. This is one of the most common and is one of the reasons that sinusitis is often mistaken for a cold. Other symptoms that people may have are itchy eyes or nose, sneezing, coughing, headaches that progressively get worse throughout a day or when doing certain things, and a clear discharge from the nose. Most of these do not cause a lot of pain but can be a nuisance.
For those that have a more severe case of sinusitis the symptoms are more severe. Acute sinusitis symptoms can include nasal discharge that is thicker and yellow or green in color. This can even have blood in it at times. Fever and chills are another common symptom that is associated with a more severe case of sinusitis along with pain in the mouth or surrounding the teeth as well as other facial and eye pain.
Less common sinusitis type symptoms
There are also other less common sinusitis symptoms that some people will experience as well. Swelling in the eye area can be seen when as the infection travels from the sinus area to the area surrounding the eyes. Also hoarseness can be noted as well in some people who experience sore throats. An even more rare symptom is vomiting, that is due to a severe headache that the condition has brought on, can develop in some cases. These all should be addressed by a physician to ensure that there is no other more serious condition being “camouflaged”.
There are some things that can help relieve these sinus problem symptoms. Some people find that a warm cloth that is placed over the eye area can help relieve some of the pressure that is felt in the nasal cavity area. Decongestants can also be found very helpful in providing relief. More severe situations need to be treated by antibiotics.
The most important thing that a person should remember is that a cold should pass by in about 10 days. If the symptoms that you are experiencing do not seem to improve or if they get worse, then immediate medical attention is in order. People quite often think that this is something that will go away in time but the fact is that many other very serious conditions can develop if the situation is not looked after – so keep an eye on those sinusitis symptoms!
